ACTION OF INDIVIDUAL COMPONENTS

PULSATILLA: Asthma and pulmonary diseases (British pharmacopoeia, 1983).Dry cough in the evening and loose cough in the morning, with copious mucous expectoration. Pressure upon the chest and soreness. Must sit up in bed to get relief.

RUMEX CRISPUS: Dry teasing cough, preventing sleep. Aggravated by pressure, talking and especially by inspiring cool air and at night.

JUSTICIA ADHATODA: Highly efficacious medicine for acute catarrhal conditions of the respiratory tract. Paroxysmal cough with suffocative obstructive feeling in the chest. Cough with sneezing. Tightness across chest.

IPECACUANHA: Dyspnoea, constant constriction in chest. Asthma, Cough incessant and violent with every breath. Chest seems full of phlegm but does not yield to coughing.

SPONGIA TOSTA: A remarkable remedy for symptoms of respiratory diseases with cough and croup. Hoarseness,dryness of larynx, burning and constricted feeling. Croup worse during inspiration and before midnight cough abates after eating or drinking especially warm drinks.

STICTA PUMONARIA: Coryza, bronchial catarrh and influenza together with nervous and rheumatic disturbance. Dry, hacking cough during night, worse with inspiration.

ANTIMONIUM TARTARICUM: Cough with great rattling of mucous but very little is expectorated .Coated tongue.

MYOCARDE: Expectorant Bronchial catarrh Bronchitis.

COCCUS CACTI: Attacks of spasmodic cough which end with vomiting of thick viscid mucous. Enlarged uvula. Tickling in larynx.

DROSERA: Antispasmodic, Asthma, Chronic bronchitis with peptic ulceration or gastritis Trachitis (BHP, 1983).

EPHEDRA VALGARIS: Anti asthmatic Bronchodilator (BHP 1983).

Indications: All types of cough.

Advantages:

No drowsiness, No depression of central nervous system. Safe for pregnant or nursing women. Safe for drivers as it does not produce drowsiness.

Contra-indications:

No known contra - indications.

Dosage:

For adult 5ml 3 to 4 times a day. For children below 10 years half the dose or as directed by physician.
